Driving Your Car
I-70: Denver is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Breckenridge. However, the Denver Airport is another 30 minutes east of Denver and makes the drive from Denver Airport to Breckenridge about 2 hours. The most popular way is by driving I-70 and is about 100 miles. In the winter a many times I-70 enforces the traction law and proper snow tires or chains are required.
US Hwy 285 N: An alternative way to get to Breckenridge from Denver Airport is via US Hwy 285 N which is about 130 miles long and the trip is most likely to take about 2.5 hours. Keep in mind that this route takes you through a couple of mountain passes that can be very dangerous if proper care is not taken. If I-70 is closed this is the only way to get to Breckenridge from Denver.

Bus System
The bus system in Breckenridge and Summit County is free for locals and visitors. It is a very convenient way to get around the town and avoid traffic.
Free Ride

Summit Stage
Summit Stage offers free public transit service within Summit County, providing access to our public lands, lodging, town centers, retail areas, and medical centers. The buses connect in between all nearby communities. The schedule changes twice a year – one for winter and one for summer.
